Hinged security doors
A hinged security door lets you leave the front, back or laundry door open for the breeze while the house stays locked. We make each one to measure in 316 stainless mesh or perforated aluminium, hang it on your existing door frame and back it with a 10 year warranty.

Why choose a hinged security door?
The front door is the one every visitor knocks on and the one most homes keep shut in summer. A hinged security door changes that: the timber door can stand open while the screen stays locked.
It hangs on its own hinges in the existing door frame, swings out of the way when you need the full opening, and closes behind you on a self-closer so it never bangs in a southerly. Three bolts lock into the frame with one turn of the key, and the cylinder can be keyed alike to your front door. Fine stainless mesh keeps the view to the street, and perforated aluminium adds daytime privacy where the door faces the footpath.

Diamond grille

Stainless steel mesh
The clearest view from the hallway.
Woven 316 stainless mesh gives the best view and airflow of any infill we fit. It is our first choice for front doors near the water and for back doors that open onto the garden.

Perforated aluminium
More privacy at the front door.
A solid aluminium sheet punched with fine holes and powder coated to match the frame. On a bright day it is harder to see into the hallway, it handles knocks from prams and dogs, and it will not rust near salt air.

Diamond grille
A traditional look on a budget.
An aluminium grille over fly mesh, the style many older Gold Coast homes already have. It deters a casual intruder at a lower price than mesh, though the pattern is busier to look through and it is not a tested security screen.
Front entry
Perforated aluminium
Daytime privacy where the door faces the street, with the same tested strength as stainless mesh.
With pets
Stainless or perforated aluminium
Both stand up to claws far better than fly mesh. Add a solid kick panel at the base for a dog that jumps at the door.

Marine-grade 316 stainless mesh
The mesh does the real work. Woven 316 stainless steel resists knives, impact and salt air, yet it is fine enough that you look straight through it to the street.

Doors that face the wind
What it costs and why.
Most hinged security doors we install cost between $790 and $1,250 fitted in 316 stainless mesh, or $650 to $990 in perforated aluminium. Four things decide where yours lands.
Read the price guide01
Size of the opening
Taller and wider doors need more mesh, a stiffer frame and a fourth hinge.
02
Mesh or infill
316 stainless costs more than perforated aluminium, and earns it near the coast.
03
Lock and closer
Keyed-alike cylinders and a heavier closer add a little to the price.
04
Your existing frame
Out-of-square or shallow frames can need packing or a sub-frame.

Hinged security doors near you.
We measure and fit hinged security doors across the northern Gold Coast, from our base in Coomera to Southport and the Logan southern fringe.
All service areasQuestions about hinged doors.
Send us a photo of the door and its frame, and we will tell you what fits before we visit.
See all questionsCan a security door be hung on my existing door frame?
Usually, yes. We hang most hinged security doors straight onto the existing frame, in front of the timber door. If the frame is out of square or too shallow for the hinges, we add packing or a sub-frame and explain why before we quote.
Which way will the door open?
Almost always outwards, so it does not clash with the timber door behind it. We choose the hinge side at the measure, allowing for steps, walls, handrails and how you walk in and out.
Can the lock be keyed alike to my front door?
In most cases, yes. Tell us at the measure and we will match the cylinder so one key opens both. Have your current key handy and we will check the profile on the day.
Do I need body corporate approval?
If you live in a townhouse or unit, the body corporate usually has rules about the colour and style of doors that face common areas. We can supply a written quote, product details and colour information for your application.
How long does installation take?
Your door is made two to three weeks after you accept the written quote. Fitting usually takes one to two hours per door, and we clean up and show you how the lock and closer work before we leave.
How do I look after it near the coast?
Rinse the mesh and frame with fresh water every few months, more often near a canal or the Broadwater. Keep the lock working with a dry lubricant rather than oil, and check the closer once a year.
