Sliding security door

316 stainless mesh

A Coomera slider, open all evening

A Coomera Waters family wanted the back of the house open to the patio after dark without leaving it unlocked. One sliding security door in 316 stainless mesh did the job.

The patio slider at Coomera Waters, fitted with a 316 stainless mesh sliding security door matched to the frame colour.

The brief

The glass slider opens from the living room onto a covered patio that catches the evening breeze. With two young kids and a dog, the family kept it shut most nights because a fly screen alone did not feel secure enough to leave open.

They wanted something they could lock with the glass door open, that would not darken the room or spoil the view to the garden.

What we fitted

At the free measure we brought stainless, perforated and grille samples and held each one up against the opening. The family chose 316 stainless mesh for the clearest view, in a frame powder-coated to match the existing door.

The door runs on its own track beside the glass, with anti-lift blocks and a three-point lock keyed alike to the front door. It is built and tested to AS 5039 and installed to AS 5040.

On the day

The door was measured on a Monday and fitted two weeks later. Installation took a morning: the crew fitted the track, hung and adjusted the door, checked the lock against each keeper and cleaned up before leaving.

Before they left, they walked the family through the lock and the care routine: a fresh-water rinse every few months and a quick clean of the track.

Google review

“Measured on Monday, fitted the next fortnight. We leave the slider open all evening now.”
